Welcome to my treasured Arkley SS. It was always a teenage ambition of mine to have one in the 1970's, (when I only had money for an old banger of course!), and I finally achieved it 2 years ago!

The Arkley SS is based on the Austin Healey Sprite or MG Midget, fitted with the famous John Britten designed fibreglass front end and rear body conversion, which was a retro design inspired by the famous Morgan cars.

I purchased my Arkley in March 2015, with 9 months MOT remaining, with the intention of fixing the minor faults, and enjoying the benefits of open air summer motoring.

Unfortunately, to quote an old cliché, family commitments and lack of time got in the way, and I have now reluctantly decided the time has come to pass her on to another enthusiast who can give her the attention she deserves! The MOT expired 23/1/16 and the car is on SORN, so would need to collected on a trailer.

She is in good overall condition, but does require a few faults to be fixed. The car has always been garaged, and I have started and run it every couple of months, and changed the engine oil a few times to keep everything fresh. It starts every time and has never failed.

I will list the good and bad bits, but please free to contact me if you want any more information:

The mileage shows as 59,425 and looking at the MOT records it has not done many miles in the last few years. Whether this mileage is genuine, I do not know! It is 48 years old after all, so it could have been "round the clock" or it could have a replacement speedo?

Interesting classic reg. especially if you were born in October?

Paintwork good, a few scratches, chips, quite presentable, but a perfectionist would probably want a respray? Recent new hood. I have tried to show the worst scratch in the photo of the rear, nearside wheel arch, but the reflections make it look worse than it really is!

Engine good, no blue smoke! Gearbox/clutch work fine. New exhaust. Oil cooler fitted.

Good interior, late model seats with headrests. There is a rear roll over bar, but NOT fitted.

Good 6 1/2 x 13 Alleycat Alloy Wheels with new/unused radial tyres. Also spare set of 6 x 13 Alloy Wheels, (similar to Alleycats), 3 with good used tyres and 1 with new/unused tyre to match ones on car.

Spare wheel fitted is one of the original Rostyle type steel wheels as fitted to Midgets/Sprites.

Small hole in passenger floor, about 40mm/1 1/2" diameter, metal sound around hole. This was noted on last MOT as an advisory! There is evidence of other welded repairs to underside of floor, but these look sound and strong.

Rear axle, nearside oil leak, (have all new parts to repair incl. wheel bearing, gaskets etc.)

Fuel gauge not working, could be gauge or sender unit?

Small selection of new/unused spares, incl. unopened engine & gearbox/axle oil.

Plus Workshop manual, owner's handbooks, DVLA History, magazine articles.

Please remember this car has no MOT, (and the rear axle oil leak mentioned above), so would need to be collected by trailer

Viewing is welcome, please contact me to arrange. (HU15 2HR - 15 miles west of Hull, just off eastern end of M62).

I would also respectfully ask that the successful bidder pays £200 deposit by Paypal and the balance in cash on collection.
